It's been. while to get to this one... but I promise its worth the wait.
On 14th September, I had the pleasure of witnessing Shtëpi’s electrifying performance at The Lanes (Promoted by Gravy Train), supported by the equally compelling Honest Work. The night was a whirlwind of energy, chaos, and humour—everything you’d want from a live music experience.
From the moment Shtëpi took to the stage, their quirky charm had the packed-out crowd hooked. The frontman was a spectacle in his own right: singing through an old red telephone, diving into the audience with a kettlebell in hand, and bouncing around with an uncontainable excitement that spread like wildfire. This wasn’t just a performance; it was a shared moment of uninhibited fun.
Shtëpi is the kind of band that grabs you within seconds—30, to be exact—and screams YES. Their unrelenting energy and offbeat creativity drew me in, and I found myself fully immersed in their unique brand of organised chaos.
Holy Smokes. continues to be a stand out track for me, it’s a brilliantly sarcastic anthem that tackles an all-too-familiar theme in the music scene: the larger-than-life personalities with dubious tales and questionable clarity. It feels like a cheeky nod to tracks like Brianstorm by Arctic Monkeys, but with an extra dash of biting humour and sharp observation.
Lyrically, Holy Smokes pokes fun at those who lean a little too heavily on substances to maintain their mystique, delivering its message with a wink rather than a wagging finger. The result is both hilarious and brutally relatable—a track that stays with you long after the show ends.
ShtëpiI isn’t just a band—they’re an experience. Their whacky, energetic, and engaging presence is impossible to ignore, and they leave an indelible mark on anyone lucky enough to see them live. That night at The Lanes was exactly what I needed: a burst of chaotic joy delivered by a band that radiates fun. If you get the chance to see them, don’t hesitate. Trust me, you’ll feel the YES.
